Fact Sheet for Family Health Network
- Established in 1972, Family Health Network (FHN) is a federally funded, community health center, serving Cortland and contiguous counties.
- FHN is the only source of care in three of the five communities served, and the only source of sliding adjustments for low-income individuals and families in the Cortland County region.
- In 2008, FHN provided 67,493 medical, dental, and mental health visits to 16,926 people (approximately 1/3 of all Cortland residents.)
- 82% of the people served are below 200% of the federal poverty level.
- 18% of the patients are on Medicaid; over 16% are uninsured and many are under-insured.
- In four rural schools, the FHN School Based Health Program provides more than 7,300 pediatric and adolescent visits with no out of pocket expenses to the child’s family.
- In 2008, FHN providers delivered 205 babies, approximately 35% of the total babies delivered at Cortland Regional Medical Center.
- The FHN Occupational Health Program has contracts with over 65 local businesses, providing pre-employment physicals and drug screening, random drug screening and injury assessments and treatment.
- Family Health Network is proud to accept private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and provides a sliding fee to those who are eligible. FHN also provides assisted enrollment in Family Health Plus and Child Health Plus.
