A person is truly EXEMPT from receiving a COVID-19 vaccination if they fall into one or more of the following 3 categories:
- Previous severe allergic reaction to COVID-19 vaccine (contraindication), or previous severe allergic reaction to other vaccines (precaution) – No vaccine
- Previous history of pericarditis/myocarditis from COVID-19 vaccine – No vaccine
- Received monoclonal antibodies within the last 90 days – No vaccine (for now)
In medicine, a contraindication is a condition that serves as a reason not to take a certain medical treatment due to the potential harm that it may cause the patient.
**Please note: Immediate allergic reaction is defined as any hypersensitivity-related signs or symptoms consistent with urticaria (hives), angioedema (swelling in deep layers of the skin), respiratory distress (wheezing), or anaphylaxis that occur within four hours following administration of the vaccine.
For all other persons, there is NO CONTRAINDICATION to COVID-19 vaccination.
FHN continues to support our community’s ongoing vaccination efforts by facilitating walk-in vaccination clinics at our various health centers.
